August does not have a special holiday to celebrate but it is designated as Family Fun Month and what better place to be than at the Hart Ranch to celebrate! Plus, it is also National Golf Month and National Picnic Month so you can cover both of those events while you are here.
As I look through the other designated days in August, we have more wacky ones this month that really cannot be turned into a celebration. For example, I am not sure what kind of celebrations to do for the following special days: Grab Some Nuts Day, National Underwear Day, Work Like a Dog Day, National Fresh Breath Day, Wiggle Your Toes Day, National Tell a Joke Day, Ride the Wind Day or Race Your Mouse Day. I am sure Racing the Wind and your Mouse are special days everyone celebrates! If you have suggestions for some celebrations for Race Your Mouse Day, please let me know!
Now the Special Food days are easy and fun ones to enjoy. August has many that can be celebrated while staying at the Resort and I bet everyone can find at least one they want to do. August 1 is National Mustard Day and Raspberry Cream Pie Day, August 2 is Ice Cream Sandwich Day, August 3 is Watermelon Day, August 4 – Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, August 5 – Oyster Day, August 10 – S’mores Day, August 14 – Creamsicle Day, August 19 – Potato Day, August 21 – Spumoni Day, August 25 – National Banana Split Day, August 28 – Stuffed Green Bell Peppers Day, August 29 – Bacon Day, August 30 – Toasted Marshmallow Day and August 31 – National Trail Mix Day.
For August we have put together two really fun activity packets and invite kids to pick up one at the Activity Window of the Family Rec Center. One of our most popular projects is to learn how to make simple friendship bracelets. This is something you can do to share with friends or family or wear yourself. It is easy to learn how to do a basic one from the instructions we have included in the packet and if you want to do other designs go to the YouTube video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YujvDp5BJ78 and learn how to make five other simple designs.
We also are featuring our packets for Make a Hart Ranch Journal in August. This project is a very nice way to record memories from your visit to the Hart Ranch and this would be a great project to keep. Record your favorite activities, events or stories of your visit to the Hart Ranch in 2020.Do a theme journal for a Nature Walk at Hart Ranch or write about New Friends at Hart Ranch. We have included in the packets words that can be cut out and pasted on the pages along with other items that can be used to embellish pages.
